Nightingale and Simmonds
Welcome to our year group page.
Our classes are named after Florence Nightingale and Ellie Simmonds who we find inspirational.
Outdoor Classroom Day!
This Friday 8th November we are having an outdoor classroom day. We will spending all day outside so please make sure children are appropriately dressed in warm outdoor clothing. We may get muddy so the children will need to wear older clothes, wellies and waterproofs.
Thank you

Important Information
Forest School:
Forest School will be every Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure your child brings appropriate outdoor wear to school including waterproofs and wellies.
P.E
Throughout term 1 we will be continuing with continuous provision in the form of our 'Rainbow Challenge'. These challenges will include P.E challenges, at the moment the children do not need to bring a separate kit. However it will be required as we progress through the first two terms so please feel free to leave one at school.
Homework:
Homework will be given out every Wednesday and is due back the following Monday. At the beginning of the term the children will be allocated phonics homework each week in their yellow sound books. As the term progresses we will alternate the homework each week between phonics and maths.
Rainbow Challenge
In Year 1 the children will still be enjoying continuous provision in the afternoons, this is important independent learning time and helps the children with the transition from Foundation Stage to Year 1. The children are set different challenges and complete these to collect the various coloured lollipop sticks. Once they have them all they have completed the rainbow!
