Do you want to go on an adventure?
This term our topic is 'Do you want to go on an adventure?'. We will be looking at different adventures that people have taken as well as going on adventures of our own.
We will be looking at the adventures of Paddington, Scott of the Antarctic and Alice in Wonderland.
On our first day back we found lots of clues in our classroom and on our pegs which had been left by an adventurous bear.
We found marmalade sandwiches, teddy bears reading the Paddington books, train tickets on our pegs, a suitcase full of clues and Paddington bear hiding behind our whiteboard!
We have been learning about Florence Nightingale. We learnt that she was a nurse who helped wounded soldiers as well as making improvements to the hospitals by making them cleaner.
We talked about what it was that nurses did and how they helped people who were ill.
We were lucky enough to have a nurse come to visit and she brought in lots of things that they used in hospitals such as stethoscopes, bandages and syringes. She also brought in her uniforms and showed us how they had changed over the years.
This week we have been designing and building houses for The Three Little Pigs.
We worked in teams to see who could build the strongest house against the wolf!
Have a look at our houses!
We came into our class today to find a letter on our board. We think it may have been from the wolf!
He wrote to use asking for some help. He wanted to apologise to the pigs for blowing down their house but didn't know what to say! We helped him write a letter back.
This term we will be looking at our topic 'Manor Through the Ages' and focusing on the story of The Three Little Pigs.
Each class is a different pigs house, Nightingale is the Brick House, as well as the Big Bad Wolf Hiding in the conservatory.
The children went on a hunt around the Year 1 classroom to find clues of what had happened.
