Would you like to go on an adventure?
We have really enjoyed learning about Paddington Bear and his adventures at the beginning of Term 3.
The children were very excited to get their train tickets to Paddington and to use their maps to hunt for clues.
It wasn’t long after finding a suitcase, marmalade, a red hat and map of Peru that the children realised we were learning about Paddington Bear!
We’ve had lots of fun going on trails, learning about Peru, hearing Paddington’s stories and making marmalade sandwiches!
Now it is time to go on our next adventure, it’s going to be very cold…
Making Marmalade Sandwiches!
This week we made marmalade sandwiches as part of our Paddington Bear topic. Before we made the sandwiches we needed to know how to make them, so we learnt how to write instructional texts using imperative verbs. The children worked really hard on this and wrote instructions such as; Spread the marmalade, cut the bread.
As the children have also been learning how to use connectives in their writing, they also tried to include these in their instructions; Next put the bread together and cut the sandwich.
After writing their instructions the children then followed them to make their marmalade sandwiches. Some of the children liked the marmalade sandwiches and said they were 'sticky' and 'sweet'. However quite a lot of the children did not like the 'bits' that were in the marmalade. However we all agreed that after learning about Paddington Bear we know that they are his favourite sandwiches!
