Year 3 Parents

Dear parents and carers,

I wanted to update you on the teaching arrangements in year 3.

Literacy 9.30 - 1 0.30am
Mrs Bayliss is running a Fresh Start intervention group. This is a follow on programme from Read, Write, inc which supports children who are still developing their reading and writing skills. The programme follows the same structure and systematic rigour that we have seen in Read Write inc. More information can be found here;

Maths 1 0.45 - 1 2.00pm

Mrs Bayliss will also be running a Maths Mastery group. One of the key principles of Maths Mastery is that all pupils have the opportunity to learn high level skills and are not limited by ability setting. With this in mind, the children in Mrs Bayliss group will be following the exact same lessons and activities (planned by Mrs Badger as the Maths Lead) but will benefit from a smaller group.  This means that the class sizes are now below 30 pupils for Redgrave and Newton literacy lessons, whilst ensuring that pupils receive the targeted support that they need. Mrs Badger and Miss Plume will remain the main class teachers, with responsibility for planning, assessment and the curriculum activities. As part of our usual assessment cycle the children’s progress will be carefully monitored - this may result in some pupils moving between groups, but their class teachers will keep you informed of this.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Robinson
Headteacher
