Welcome to the Brunel class page!


Information about our class:

  • Our teacher is Miss Fry and our Teaching Partner is Miss Brightman.
  • We are getting really good at moving using 1, 2, 3 in phonics!
  • We love reading stories together on the carpet!



Settling in to life at Manor School


Our class have had a brilliant start to the term with the introduction of Read Write Inc. We are continuing to learn the rules at Manor School and are settling in nicely. We are really excited about having Brunel class in full time this week!


We are starting our time at Manor School with our Manor Through The Ages topic: This Is Me. you can find an overview of our topic below!



Dates for your diaries:


Friday 28th September – Phonics afternoon – 2 – 3pm for all parents and children.

5th October - Vision screeening

19th October - School photos





  • Please can all children bring a book bag and a water bottle each day.
  • Please can I remind parents to return the children’s sound books each day so we can date the next sound

Please do not move onto the next sound until it has been taught in school.



Presentation from the first curriculum meeting

Curriculum presentation evenings


Each term there will be a short presentation for each year group to help explain what your children will be learning this term, share the class timetable, discuss homework and answer any questions you may have. The presentation will last no more than 20 minutes and will be straight after school in your child's classroom.


To help parents who have siblings in different years, each year group will have a different after school session where ever possible.


Monday 17th September - EYFS & Year 1

Wednesday 19th September - Year 3

Thursday 20th September - Year 4

Friday 21st September - Year 5 & 6

Forest School


Forest School starts Wednesday 19th September and will be on every Wednesday regardless of the weather:


Please send children into school in school uniform and bring a named bag with:


A long pair of trousers

A jumper with long sleeves (to protect arms from nettles and brambles)

A pair of gloves (if it’s cold!)

A waterproof coat (and trousers if you have them)

Wellington boots

Sunhats (if it's sunny)

Read Write Inc.
